Cosmological Models by the Cluster Mass Function
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a comparison between two observational and three theoretical mass functions for eight cosmological models suggested by the data from recently completed BOOMERANG-98, MAXIMA-1 cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy experiments as well as peculiar velocities (PV) and Type Ia Supernovae (SN) observations. The cosmological models have been proposed as the best fit models by several groups. We show that all three theoretical mass functions make similar predictions. We find no model passed the cluster abundance test without a problem. The Concordance and Refined Concordance models show the best agreement with the cluster abundance test. The nonflat MAXIMA-1 and ΛMDM models are in a fatal conflict with the observational cluster abundances and can be safely ruled out. Other models have serious problems with the observational cluster mass function. Systematic Effects in the Interpretations of Cluster X-ray Temperature Functions
The formation and evolution of clusters of galaxies are sensitive to the underlying cosmological model. Constraints on cosmological parameters of cold dark matter models have been derived from mass, temperature and luminosity functions of clusters. We study the importance of including cluster formation history and a correction for collapsed fraction of objects in determining the cluster X-ray t...
متن کاملBulk viscous string cosmological models in Saez – Ballester theory of gravitation
Spatially homogeneous Bianchi type-II, VIII and IX anisotropic, as well as isotropic cosmological models can be obtained in a scalar tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Saez and Ballester (1986) when the source for energy momentum tensor is a bulk viscous fluid containing one-dimensional cosmic strings. All the models obtained and presented here are expanding, non-rotating and accelerating...
متن کاملMeasuring Cosmological Parameters from the Evolution of Cluster X-ray Temperatures
We have determined the cluster X-ray temperature function from two fluxand redshift-limited samples of clusters. The first sample is comprised of 25 clusters with average redshift 0.05. The local temperature function derived from it supercedes the one we previously published (Henry & Arnaud, 1971). Fourteen clusters with average redshift 0.38 comprises the second sample. We perform maximum like...
متن کاملVelocity Correlations of Galaxy Clusters
We determine the velocity correlation function, pairwise peculiar velocity di erence, and root-mean-square pairwise peculiar velocity dispersion of rich clusters of galaxies, as a function of pair separation, for three cosmological models: = 1 and = 0:3 CDM, and = 0:3 PBI models (all at and COBEnormalized). We nd that close cluster pairs, with separation r 10h 1Mpc, exhibit strong attractive pe...
متن کاملPrecision Determination of the Mass Function of Dark Matter Halos
The predicted mass function of dark matter halos is essential in connecting observed galaxy cluster counts and models of galaxy clustering to the properties of the primordial density field. We determine the mass function in the concordance ΛCDM cosmology, as well as its uncertainty, using sixteen 10243-particle nestedvolume dark-matter simulations, spanning a mass range of over five orders of m...
